| Fix WebDAV access problems |
| |
When you try to connect to a network resource using the Add Network Place Wizard in Windows, you might receive the following message:
The folder you entered does not appear to be valid.
There are several potential causes for this problem, many of which are detailed at Microsoft’s Web site at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287402.
However, there is one potential cause that doesn’t seem to be widely published elsewhere on the Internet -- you don’t have the WebDAV components installed on the server! Contrary to what the Add/Remove Windows Components applet says, WebDAV Publishing is not always installed.
To add these components, open the Add or Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel and open the Add/Remove Windows Components wizard. Expand Application Server, Internet Information Services, World Wide Web Service, and select WebDAV Publishing. Click OK 3 times and click Next to complete the installation.
After you add WebDAV Publishing, try access the resource again. If it still fails, check the Microsoft troubleshooting site referenced above. |
