Getting your Address Book back in line

If you've recently reinstalled Outlook 2002, you might have noticed that now your Address Book no longer shows names in Last, First format, even though your contacts display in that format in the Contacts folder.

To fix this problem, just switch your Outlook Address Book from using the Display As field to using the File As field for displaying names.

To make this change:

Open the Mail object in the Control Panel and click E-mail Accounts (or choose Tools | E-mail Accounts).

Choose View or Change Existing Directories or Address Books and click Next.

Select the Outlook Address Book and click Change to open its property dialog box.

In Show Names By Group, select the option File As (Smith, John) and click Close.

Click Finish to close the e-mail properties.

In order to test your efforts, start a new e-mail message and click To. When you view the addresses from the Contacts folder, they should now display in the right format.
