| Delegate tasks to multiple people |
| |
One of the benefits of Exchange Server is the capability it gives users to assign tasks to others. For example, a manager might assign tasks to the people who work for her. When you assign a task and the person accepts it, that person becomes the owner of the task. Outlook sends you task updates when the assignee makes changes to the task so you can track progress.
In some situations you will want to assign a task to more than one person. For example, preparing the company's annual shareholder's report is no doubt a team project, and you would want to track progress by each team member.
Outlook doesn't provide a means for assigning a task to multiple individuals that still gives you the capability to view status. However, you can change the way you assign tasks to achieve the same result.
Rather than assign a task as a single entity, break up the task into individual tasks and assign those individual tasks to specific team members. If you need to divide a task among multiple teams, divide the overall tasks into individual team tasks, and then send these task assignments to each team leader. The team leaders can then allocate these tasks to team members. Both you and the team leader can then receive task status updates. |
